Surgeon Performs Procedure On Jenna Hinman's Lungs
We have new information to pass along about Jenna Hinman, the Fort Drum soldier's wife who's battling a rare pregnancy-related cancer after delivering twins.
According to the "Prayers for Jenna" Facebook page, a surgeon conducted a procedure on Jenna using a special tool to begin removing some of the blood clots and tumor debris that have been collecting in Jenna's lungs.
"Some of this debris is related to the initial success of the chemo treatments, which are beginning to break down the cancer in her lungs," the post states. "It is the sincere hope of the treatment team that today's procedure has increased Jenna's lung function and significantly cleared her airways - which will hopefully be a step towards Jenna regaining a small amount of independent lung function in the near future."
According to the site, Jenna remains in a medically induced coma at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse .
Jenna has a rare form of cancer called choriocarcinoma, which causes lesions and tumors.
Her twins, Kinleigh and Azlynn, are both in good health, but still at the hospital.
