New Commander To 10th Combat Aviation Brigade

Francis took over from Col. Pedro Almeida during a ceremony Tuesday morning at Drum. (Francis is in the foreground of our picture. Almeida is the other man shown.)
   
The brigade was formed in 1965 at Fort Benning, Ga., and provided air support during the first Tet counter-offensive in Vietnam. It moved to Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, N.Y., in 1988 then moved to Fort Drum in 1990. It has played roles in humanitarian relief as well as combat support in Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan.
   
Francis is a native of Pennsylvania.
