A former Fort Drum soldier and soon-to-be Medal of Honor recipient was the subject of a CBS News story Thursday.

Capt. Will Swenson will receive the military's highest honor on October 15.   In 2009, Swenson was serving as an embedded trainer and mentor for Afghan National Security Forces in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. He was a member of the 10th Mountain Division's 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team.   CBS correspondent David Martin's report includes video footage of the actions for which Swenson is being honored.   Swenson survived the engagement described in the piece. Five of other Americans did not.   See our report from earlier this week.   See a profile of Capt. Swenson on the Army's website.
