Visitors to Fort Drum will need a special pass starting next month.
Fort Drum officials say each driver and passenger entering Fort Drum who do not have a valid Department of Defense identification card will need a visitor's pass starting February 1.
To get a pass, each driver must show a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and current vehicle registration. Passengers 18 years and older must present a government issued photo identification card. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Visitors will be asked the purpose of their visit and the length of time they intend to spend on Fort Drum. Anyone planning to be on post for an extended period may apply for a special visitor's pass.
Passes are available inside the access control point at the Iraqi Freedom Drive gate off Route 11, the Gasoline Alley gate off Route 26 or the Wheeler Sack Army Airfield gate.
All three gates are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
