This week on For Your Health, if you think your footwear can make you more prone to bunions, you're wrong.

Podiatrist Jim Pelletier says shoes don't change your foot structure, but can speed the progression of an inherent foot deformity such as a bunion or hammer toe. 

He also says shoes can't alter your arch.

"Arch height is genetically designed to what size arch you're going to have," said Dr. Pelletier.
 
Next week, we'll take a look at why people who wear flip flops might want to occasionally flip flop their footwear.
