We first met Terry Baker three weeks ago. The Watertown man has had skin cancer four times and is being treated for a potentially pre-cancerous lesion on his face. Terry is using Efudex, which is a topical treatment which causes the skin to peel and eliminate the lesions. The treatment, although very uncomfortable at times, did what it was supposed to. "The skin is being cleansed and cleared of these spots that might become cancerous and that's the goal," said Terry. He can now stop using the chemical exfoliant and his skin can begin the healing process. "I wanted to see Terry have some good crusting, some good erosion, a nice chemical peel, which he absolutely has," said nurse practitioner Cathy O'Brien. A mild topical steroid will be used for the next two days to take away the inflammation and Terry will continue to use a healing ointment to make the skin more comfortable. In a month, the result will be new, healthier skin. Most Popular |
