If you want to exercise but are dealing with some of the physical challenges that can come with aging, the PiYo for Seniors class held Wednesday mornings at the downtown Watertown YMCA may be perfect for you.

It's cross training with seniors in mind. 

In the PiYo class, the yoga moves are simplified and the pilates are modified. 

"It's good for senior citizens because it gives them mobility and strength building that they need to continue with a healthy lifestyle," said PiYo instructor Rossie Touchstone.

In this class, alternatives are given to make the workout acceptable for everyone.

Lucie Vanwormer had hip replacement surgery and she says while any exercise is good, this one is perfect.

"The first time I did this, I was supposed to get a ride home. I walked several blocks home and it didn't bother me at all. Normally the hip would start to catch," she said.

If you're not a senior but like the idea of an exercise routine which combines pilates and yoga, there's a more strenuous PiYo session held on Tuesday evenings.
