Walk n' Run for Ataxia

By Kris Rusho

Sheryl Sad is an avid biker, because she has to be.

Suffering from a condition called ataxia, Sheryl's nervous system controls for her coordination, balance and speech are affected.

And while she had the rare symptoms all her life, it wasn't until she moved to Fort Drum with her family that she was diagnosed with it.

With 50,000 people in the U.S. also living with ataxia, Sheryl found support on the internet and became part of the virtual walk n' run for ataxia.

The virtual walk n' run has raised $75,000 so far and there are nine other events in the country.
