The man who will be moving into the presidency of SUNY Potsdam on an interim basis is a staunch supporter of shared services.
Dr. Dennis Hefner is on campus to meet with college staff and sat down with reporters Thursday.
He says shared services between Potsdam and SUNY Canton are nothing to fear.
"I believe in shared services," he said, "where you can either reduce costs and/or improve the quality of services by having two or more campuses come together and share what they're doing."
"That's the right thing to do," Hefner said.
Hefner is meeting with SUNY Potsdam's college council and faculty Friday.
He officially starts work on June 1.
Current president Dr. John Schwaller announced last year he was leaving in July.
Hefner will fill in as president until a permanent replacement is named.
