$100K Grant To Help Replace SLC's Fire Training Tower

A $100,000 state grant is going to make a big difference for St. Lawrence County's volunteer fire departments.

The money, secured by State Senators Patty Ritchie, Joe Griffo, and Betty Little, will help replace the county's aging fire training tower.

The training center's 'live burn' simulator was closed four years ago because it was no longer safe. Since then, volunteer firefighters have had to travel to other counties to practice those necessary skills.

The new facility will be even better than the old one, with more rooms, a basement, and a second floor.
