10th MTN Div. Honored in Albany

10th Mountain Division Commander Major General Mark Milley and a contingent of his troops traveled to the state capitol this week to speak to mark "10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum Day".

Governor Andrew Cuomo declared May 23rd "10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum Day" for New York State.

The event, organized by State Senator Patty Ritchie (R-48th District), gave lawmakers the chance to meet our soldiers in person, to better understand what their service and sacrifice means and what fort drum means to the north country.

Speaking in the Senate chambers, Major General Milley said he was grateful for that opportunity.

"The United State Army, since 1775, has fought on behalf of the American people. And it's important that the American people and their representatives stay connected to our force," he said.

This was Milley's first visit to Albany.

He told lawmakers, since he couldn't get them all up to Fort Drum, this was his way of bringing Fort Drum to them.
