16-Year-Old Without a License Crashes Car in Ellisburg
A 16-year-old driving with only a permit crashed a car this afternoon on County Route 89 in Ellisburg.
Crews had to roll back the roof of a Chevy Aveo to remove 16-year-old Makenzi Delong, Ellisburg, who was trapped in the driver's seat after a rollover accident. Troopers say DeLong didn't have a driver's license yet and neither did her passenger Billy Martin, 17, Ellisburg. Both were transported by ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center. Troopers couldn't comment on the severity of the injuries. However, a helicopter was called to the scene initially and then sent back.
Troopers say charges are anticipated and excessive speed and strong winds were probably a factor in the crash.
