2 Injured After Car Strikes Tree

An elderly Potsdam couple was injured Friday afternoon when the car they were in went off the road, striking a tree.

St. Lawrence County Sheriff's investigators said Mary MacKinnon of 562 May Road was driving a 2011 Ford Escape when she failed to negotiate a sharp curve just down the road from her home.

The car traveled off the roadway and hit a tree.

Deputies said MacKinnon and her husband, Ronald, were both unconscious when emergency crews arrived on scene and were removed from the car.

Both were taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital by Potsdam Rescue.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
