A three year old boy was killed in an accident at a farm in the town of Orleans on Monday.

Detective David Pustizzi of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said the toddler climbed up on some metal gates, which then fell on top of the child.

He said each gate weighed about 100 pounds.

Pustizzi said the boy's grandfather tried to perform CPR on the child, but the toddler died at the scene.

The name of the boy was not released.

The accident happened on Dog Hill Road Monday afternoon.

Members of the Amish community live in that area, but Pustizzi would not confirm if the accident happened on an Amish farm.
