While the campaigning winds down, the work has just started for staff at the Jefferson County Board of Elections.

The office in Watertown opened up Saturday morning, giving people who won't be able to vote Tuesday a chance to fill out an absentee ballot.

Officials say they've already collected over 3,000 absentee votes, with even more expected to come in before the election.

"It's been a record year for absentees, and it's still climbing," said Jerry Eaton, Jefferson County's Republican Election Commissioner, "and we still have Monday for people to come in and vote."

The Board of Elections will open at 8:30 a.m. Monday for anyone still looking to fill out an absentee ballot.
