Tools

There are more contract troubles for St. Lawrence County.

The union representing the majority of county government workers has declared impasse in its contract talks with the county.

Civil Service Employees Association Unit 8400 represents close to 740 county workers.

Talks broke off last week over benefits for part-time workers.

The county wants to eliminate the part-timers benefits, which could allow could make it more economically attractive to put two part time workers in a full-time position and not be required to pay any benefits.

A Public Employment Realations Board mediator will now be brought in to help resolve the contract dispute.
