Chain Saw Strikes Man's Face, Chest & Wrist

By Diane Rutherford

A Lewis County man has been airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse after being struck in the face, chest and wrist by a chain saw.

The sheriff's department identifies the man as 54 year old Bruce A. Lyndaker of 7499 Belfort Road in Croghan.

Officials say Lyndaker was cutting a load of logs with a chain saw at approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The saw kicked back and struck him, officials said.

The sheriff's department says Lyndaker was taken by ambulance to a landing zone in Barnes Corners, where a chopper took him to Syracuse.

Officials say Lyndaker's condition was still being evaluated.
