A 23 year old Massena singer is hoping her vocal talents will propel her onto the American Idol stage for the 9th season of the hit FOX television show.

Lacey Rae Stoddard has been singing since she was eight years old.

She credits her inspiration and love for music to her father, who is a musician and a member of a local band.

Stoddard has a preliminary American Idol try-out in Denver, Colorado, in a few days.

Her last shot at an American Idol audition two years ago in New York CIty never got past standing in a long line at what turned out to be the wrong table.

Stoddard says she hopes she gets the chance to go face to face with Idol judge Simon Cowell.

She plans to sing "Broken Wing" by one of her favorite singers, Martina McBride.

The audition is July 14.

We'll keep you updated on Stoddard's progress.
