McHugh Nomination Official, Confirmation Next
It's official. President Obama has nominated north country Congressman John McHugh to be Secretary of the Army. This is no surprise to anyone, since President Obama nominated McHugh at the beginning of June. (Read our story here.) However, it wasn't "official" until the White House sent the nominate to the Senate, which happened late Monday. McHugh's office confirms McHugh has completed all the paperwork for the nomination, and is waiting for the FBI's standard background check for high level federal appointees. The Senate is expected to act on McHugh's nomination this summer. President Obama tapped the nine term Congressman because of McHugh's familiarity with the military. He's the ranking Republican member of the House Armed Services Committee. Most Popular |
