The superintendent of the Harrisville Central School District faces a charge of driving while intoxicated.

The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department says 48 year old Rolf A. Waters of 418 Mead Road in the town of Canton was arrested Saturday night.

According to Sheriff Kevin Wells, a deputy observed Waters' vehicle traveling along Anderson and South Canton Roads; the vehicle swerved over the center line and veered off the roadway and back on.

Waters, who was stopped on Butternut Ridge Road in the town of Pierrepont, was arrested for driving with a blood alcohol content of .14 percent, according to Wells.

The legal BAC limit in New York is .08 percent.

Waters was issued a ticket to appear in Pierrepont Town Court on October 7 at 7 p.m.

Sheriff Wells said Waters was traveling from the village of Potsdam to his home near Langdon Corners when he was stopped.

He would not specifically say where Waters had been.

Waters is the superintendent of the Harrisville Central School District and the elementary school principal.

Calls to Waters and members of the school board were not immediately returned.
