He's struggling to break into the lead and now Democratic Congressional candidate Bill Owens is getting the help he needs. On Monday, the day before people vote, Vice President Joe Biden will make a stop in Watertown. Biden will appear at 10 a.m. at the Northside Improvement League, with doors opening at 8:30 am. "I'm honored to have the President and Vice President's support. I am excited to welcome the Vice President to Watertown where we'll discuss my plans to create jobs Upstate and my commitment to helping turn the page on the George Bush economic agenda," Owens said in a statement. This will be Biden's second time stumping for Biden. Owens met the vice president at a Syracuse event last month. On the campaign trail Friday, Owens picked up anther big endorsement from New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. "The biggest issue we have right now is the economy and one thing Bill Owens knows how to do is how to create jobs," said Gillibrand. Meanwhile, Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman is getting more and more support from mainstream Republicans. The latest big endorsement comes from former Governor George Pataki, who says Hoffman is the candidate who will reduce taxes for New Yorkers. On Monday night, hours after Biden's trip to Watertown, country music star John Rich will be in Watertown to perform and stump for Hoffman. Recent polls say the race is a dead heat between Hoffman and Owens. It leaves Republican Dede Scozzafava trailing in last place. Scozzafava spent the day on the campaign trail. Scozzafava says she's working hard to get her message out, but admits her campaign has been drowned out by the national frenzy that has come along with this race. |
