Library System Requests More Money

The Jefferson County library system is in demand, and representatives are hoping for more money to keep services running.

A representative from the library system asked Jefferson County legislators for an additional $11,000 in the upcoming budget year.

She said, as the economy gets worse, more and more people are depending on the library.

"Libraries have had to provide more with a dwindling dollar," Connie Holberg told legislators. "The point I really wanted to make is how essential our services are to county residents, especially in these times."

She says visits to the library have gone up 32% since 2006.
