Accused Killer Wayne Oxley Staying In Jail...For Now

Accused murderer Wayne Oxley Jr. will have to wait a little longer to learn whether he will have his bail reduced or be released from jail while he awaits retrial.

Oxley was back in St. Lawrence County Court Monday where his attorney asked the court to consider reducing his $100,000 bail to $15,000, releasing him under probation supervision or releasing him on his own recognizance.

Judge Jerry Richards reserved decision.

Oxley faces a retrial in the alleged August 2005 drug-related murder of Bernard Trickey Jr.

Defense Attorney Richard Manning says Oxley has spent the past four years and two months locked up and "deserves to be released."

Prosecutors are opposed to Oxley's release from jail arguing he is considered to be "a very large flight risk" because of the charges he faces and the fact that family members live in Florida.
