From day one of his campaign, Democrat Bill Owens has focused on a single issue - job creation. For well over a month he has criss-crossed the district touring renewable energy plants and meeting with business owners. On Monday, Owens kicked his candidacy into high gear with a Watertown rally headlined by Vice President Joe Biden. Owens also picked up some steam when Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava dropped out of the race. Scozzafava now endorses Owens and the Democrat hopes to get some of her votes - a makeshift alliance to defeat the Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman. "I have great respect for her. She's a person who has served her community well, first as mayor of Gouverneur and then ten years in the Assembly. She's a person who shares my value of independent, non-partisan activity on behalf of her constituents," Owens said last night. The Owens camp undoubtedly hopes that support for their candidate, plus the endorsement from Scozzafava will be enough to pull out off a win tonight. Most Popular |
