Taxpayers Get Good News, Bad News In Lewis County Spending Plan
There's good and bad news for Lewis County taxpayers now that the proposed county budget has been unveiled. The bad news is: sales tax revenue is down and the county won't be getting $9 million in wind power money. The good news is: the property tax rate is going down. Under the spending plan, if you own a home worth $100,000, you would pay $680 in taxes. That's down about $20 compared to last year. "One of the things that's always a challenge is trying to put together a budget without knowing what the state is doing and they're not scheduled to come back to plug their hole of $10 billion now until November 10," said Lewis County Administrator Dave Pendergast. However, nothing is set in stone. A public hearing is set for November 18. Most Popular |
