Jefferson County Voters Elect New County Clerk

A woman with 33 years experience in the Jefferson County Clerk's office has been elected as the new county clerk.

Republican Cheryl Lane (pictured on the right) received 13,728 votes.

She has been deputy county clerk since last July.

Her Democratic opponent, Gertrude Karris, received 5,389 votes.

Karris has been the Sackets Harbor Village Clerk since 2006.
