A fire has destroyed the old Norwood School on Prospect Street and according to officials, the fire is suspicious.

Investigators say arsonists started the fire that was discovered by a Norwood police officer in the morning.

Smoke was billowing out the windows as fire crews arrived at the scene.

After being utilized as a school, the building was converted into office space for individual businesses and at one time it housed the now defunct student transition and recovery program known as STAR.

Someone had also attempted to start a fire in a sink and evidence of graffitti that reflected white supremacist and racism.

Authorities are currently gathering information that will hopefully lead to those who started the fire.
