"If you've got something, a story to tell, there's always people to listen to it."

If you listen to her songs, you know where Monica Behan is coming from because there's a good chance you've been there too.

Her latest record is a heartfelt telling of her life lately.

"There's the painful, there's the joyful and there's the peaceful," she said.

It's a project that got its start with a broken heart.

"I had been in a relationship that split up after 18 years, not a new story for human being historically, but my story," she said.

To process the loss, Monica did what Monica does naturally - she sang.

The melodies and words transformed into an entire record titled, Rright Where I Need To Be."

It's produced by Grammy Award winner Russ Titelman and the album is expected to be released later this year.

We caught up with Monica as she prepares for a launch performance at the Clayton Opera House - a night she says will be one to remember.

"There's a myriad of emotions that this music brings out," she said.

It's a new chapter for this artist and a new chance to share her story.

Monica will perform songs from her new album this Friday, July 19 at 7 p.m. at the Clayton Opera House.

Tickets are $30.

You can seen 7 News anchor Jeff Nelson's special report Tuesday at 6, 10 and 11 p.m.
