7 To Lose Jobs When Massena Store Closes

Seven full and part-time workers at Massena's Yankee One Dollar store will be out of work when the business closes later this month.

The popular store, which featured items for just $1, plans to close its doors January 27 after nearly 20 years in the strip mall adjacent to the St. Lawrence Centre.

Company officials say declining profits brought on by poor sales and rising costs were the contributing factors in the decision to pull out of Massena.

The company operates 20 stores in New York, including another store in the Franklin County village of Malone, which will remain open.
