Expectant Mothers Receive H1N1 Vaccine At Clinic
It's in short supply and high demand, but Monday a number of pregnant women were in line to receive an H1N1 vaccine. Pregnant women require a special type of shot. Total of 86 women received the H1N1 vaccination and 56 of them also got the seasonal flu immunization. "We're thrilled to see that so many women have gotten out to take advantage of this clinic," said Donna Grant of Public Health. Right now, the Jefferson County Public Health Department only has about 300 doses. Some mothers-to-be say, at first, they had second thoughts about getting the vaccine. "They say that high-risk pregnant women should get it so that's why I'm here," said Melissa Rosales, who initially had reservations about receiving the shot. On average, Jefferson County is only getting about a third of the doses it's ordering. |
