The north country was pounded by its first snowstorm before Halloween in 2008.

Thirteen months later, the sun is shining and the grass is green.

It's mid-November and construction season is still in full swing and there's life out on the links.

Road salt is still piled high and the snow plows are motionless.

On average, Watertown gets four to six inches of snow by now.

So far this season, we haven't seen any measurable snow.

Last year, Watertown got 180 inches of snow, making it the fifth snowiest winter on the books.

So what's with the weather this year?

One theory is we're seeing the return of El Nino, the weather phenomenon that can create unusual weather patterns in various parts of the world.

It'll take scientists months to figure out if that's what we're seeing.

Either way, there's still no snow in the forecast at least through Thanksgiving.

Holding out for a white Christmas may be a better shot.
