Conservative candidate for the 23rd Congressional District Doug Hoffman has 'unconceded' the race, stating that while a victory is still a long shot, new information shows that he was closer than previously thought.

Democratic candidate Bill Owens won the overall vote with Hoffman being told that returns of a 5,300 margin on election night were insurmountable.

Hoffman conceded the race to Owens, who was quickly sworn into office in time for the health care bill vote in the House of Representatives, which he voted for.

However, with a recanvassing of the district, the 5,300 margin shrunk to 3,026 votes.

According to a report from congressional paper 'The Hill', Hoffman says that information would have been vital to how he would have handled the situation differently.

When Beck asked if Hoffman would 'unconcede', the conservative answered yes.

With 10,000 absentee votes yet to be counted, it is estimated that Hoffman would need 65 percent of those votes to overtake Owens.
