A Watertown man is going to prison for ten years for intentionally striking his ex-girlfriend with a car and breaking into her home. Jordan Reardon pleaded guilty in October to assault and attempted burglary. The 19 year old former Watertown High School star athlete was sentenced Wednesday in Jefferson County Court to five years for each charge to be served consecutively. Reardon said nothing during the sentencing. His father, Mcihael, spoke with 7 News for the first time since the case began. "This is really basically a Romeo and Juliet story gone bad. Two people were involved. Two people were hurt and only one person is taking payment for this," said Michael Reardon. " I'm not saying if my son did this he doesn't deserve punishment, but I feel ten years is a little harsh." Last month, he admitted in court that he intentionally struck ex-girlfriend Cassandra Marsala with his car. Reardon's plea bargain covered all of the charges he faced, including attempted murder and violating orders of protection by having text messages sent to Marsala. On October 30, 2008, Reardon allegedly struck Marsala with his car, after the two of them drove to southern Jefferson County. She suffered a serious head laceration and a fracture to her left leg. The burglary charge stems from an attempt to break into the Marsala family home. Members of the Marsala family were not present during the sentencing. "I think that they are happy that they can put this behind them and move on with their lives," said Chief Assistant District Attorney Kristyna Mills. Most Popular |
