Two St. Lawrence County men who've been in trouble with the law before are now back behind bars after police arrested them following a domestic dispute in Gouverneur.

Gouverneur Village Police say Raul Byrd, 37, slapped his girlfriend in the face at their apartment at 83 East Main Street in Gouverneur and then threatened to hit her with a pair of pliers.

He's been charged with 2nd-degree menacing , 3rd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and 2nd-degree harrassment.

Police say Byrd was on parole from state prison after being released earlier this year from state prison.

Police also arrested David Pearson, 31, of Gouverneur.

Police say he confronted Byrd with a loaded 9 millimeter semi-automatic pistol outside of the 83 East Main Street in Gouverneur.

Police also say Pearson punched Byrd in the face two times.

Police have charged Pearson with 2nd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, 2nd-degree menacing, and 3rd-degree assault.

Both men were arraigned in Gouverneur Town Court and are being held in the St. Lawrence Correctional Facility.

Byrd is being held without bail. Pearson is being held on $5,000 cash bail.
