Detective Sergeant Al Duquette is making his mark in the world of martial arts.

Duquette will be inducted in the U.S. Martial Arts Hall of Fame during a ceremony on February 27th.

He's being honored for his work as a law enforcement mixed martial arts instructor.

He began teaching martial arts to law enforcement officers in 1995, and he started teaching at the Police Academy in Canton in 2003.

Duquette is being recognized as the first police officer defensive tactics instructor in the state to teach mixed martial arts techniques to other police officers.

"This is the type of Hall of Fame where Bruce Lee and those type of martial artists are in a group of their own," says Duquette. "To be a part of that is really surprising."

Duquette's training has paid off for his students.

Several of them have won world championships and cage fighting titles in Boston, Atlantic City, and Burlington, VT.
