In the months before he killed two fellow soldiers, Joshua Hunter threatened and frightened his wife, a Jefferson County grand jury charged Thursday. Hunter, 20, was indicted Thursday on two counts of murder, first degree, along with 14 other charges. He is accused of fatally stabbing Waide James, 20, and Diego Valbuena, 23, at the apartment they shared in the Town of Leray. Thursday's indictment charges Hunter killed the men by stabbing each of them multiple times in the neck, head and body. The indictment also contained new information about Hunter's relationship with his wife, Emily. It accuses Hunter of chasing her with a knife, of holding a knife to her throat and of holding her underwater between June and November of last year. Shortly after Hunter's arrest, Emily Hunter told the Associated Press her husband returned from Iraq a changed, angry man, after seeing his best friend blown to pieces. That account was disputed by soldiers who were with Hunter in Iraq. Among the other charges Hunter faces - criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful imprisonment and menacing. Hunter was jailed after being caught by authorities in Ohio. He is being held without bail.
