State Court: Olmstead Conviction Stands

Tools

A Chase Mills man with a history of drunk driving will not be allowed to appeal his driving while intoxicated conviction.

The State Court of Appeals Appellate Division denied an attempt by 52 year old George Olmstead Jr. to have his conviction thrown out.

Olmstead's drunk driving conviction stemmed from a March 28, 2009 arrest in the Town of Louisville.

The arrest came a week after Olmstead was released on bail in connection with a fatal hit and run accident that claimed the life of 12 year old Matthew Caldwell of Chase Mills.

Olmstead is serving a 3 1/3 to 10 year prison sentence.
