Numbers Down at Ice Fishing Derby

The 34th Annual Lyme Fishing Derby was held Sunday, and while the event still got a good response, numbers were down a little bit this year.

Event chairman Charlie Mount says he thinks parking problems and the bitter cold temperatures caused registrations to drop.

Still, about 225 people showed up to the event.

"The idea is to bring people to the town of Lyme. In the winter, there's not a lot going on, so they see us," says Mount.

Mount says the derby was made possible by the support of local businesses.

They donated prizes for the event.

Those out on the ice say they were trying to top last year's winner, who caught a 25 lb. Northern Pike.
