A Holiday Tale Of Two Fred Jacksons

A mailing mix-up led to a good deed and connected two men named Fred Jackson.

The good deed started at Fred's Quick Lube in Clayton. Owners Fred and Lynda Jackson found a Christmas card and a check for $100 in their mailbox that didn't belong to them.

"My main concern was making sure this got to the right Fred Jackson," Lynda Jackson said.

Earlier this month, a woman named Mildred sent her son, Fred Jackson in Mississippi. a Christmas card and a check from Canada, but she forgot to include the zip code and somehow it ended up in Clayton.

The card didn't end up in the right hands, but it did end up in honest ones. Lynda Jackson got on the internet and found the right Fred Jackson, the one in Mississippi.

"I put it in another envelope and taped it all up and wrote all over it and made sure it got there," Lynda Jackson said.

The card arrived at the home of the Jackson family in Mississippi on Wednesday. The family was touched by the act of kindness and reached out to 7 News.

"I just thought this was precious that these people were so honest and also made the extra effort to send it along to us so we're really thankful," said the Fred Jackson in Mississippi.

The Jacksons in Clayton say it's really no big deal. They say it's the same thing anyone would do, especially at Christmastime.
