ATM Stolen From SLU BookstorePolice in Canton are asking for the public's help finding the people who stole an ATM from the entrance to St. Lawrence University's bookstore. "You've got to be very brazen in trying to accomplish something like that," said interim Police Chief Victor Rycroft. Village police say the theft happened sometime after 9:40 p.m. Friday. Employees of the Brewer Bookstore noticed the ATM was missing when they opened the next day, but thought it was out for maintenance. The theft was reported to police shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday. The ATM, which belongs to North Country Savings Bank, was not connected to any alarms and contains no electronic tracking device. The ATM weighed more than 260 pounds. Police and university security are reviewing surveillance camera recordings for clues. Anyone with information can call police at 315-386-4561. Police say the thieves' activity could have gone unnoticed because of the large number of people walking by after that night's SLU hockey game. Most Popular |
