Absentee Count Changes Cape Vincent Results

Jefferson County's count of absentee ballots has changed the results in two Cape Vincent races.

On election night, Paul Aubertine, Democrat, led Michelle Oswald, Republican, 562-471. However, Board of Elections officials said Thursday that a count of absentees turned the race in Oswald's favor, 707-654.

In the race for a seat on the village board, on election night Douglas Putnam had a one vote lead over Jeffrey Call, 173-172. After the absentees were counted, Call had 211 votes and Putnam 197.

That means Call will join the night's top vote getter, Jerry Golden, who had 275 votes, on the board.
