Accidental Phone Call Leads Police To Investigate Possible Weapon At School

An accidental cell phone call to 9-1-1 by a student at Indian River Central led to quick response by police who thought a weapon might be at the school.

No weapons were found.

School officials say dispatchers heard part of a muffled conversation in which they thought they heard the word "loaded."

What they heard led them to believe it might be a reference to a weapon on school grounds.

A complete investigation by state police, the Jefferson County sheriff department and school administrators didn't turn up any evidence of a weapon, officials said.

The students whose conversation dispatchers overheard were cooperative and were allowed to return to class.

School officials say classes were not disrupted.
