Tools

An Adams Center man announced Friday he's running for Congress.

Michael Ring, a Republican, is challenging incumbent Democrat Bill Owens for the 21st Congressional District, which covers all or part of 12 counties in northern New York.

A northern New York native, Ring is a broadcast engineer and computer consultant. He founded the OurCongress.US website over two years ago "to educate and promote voter involvement," he said in a statement.

Owens has represented the north country in Congress since 2009.

Two other Republican have already announced their candidacies, former George W. Bush administration aide Elise Stefanik of Whitesboro and former St. Lawrence County emergency services director Joe Gilbert.
