A 68 year old Adams woman has been arrested on arson charges for allegedly setting fire to her home as well as a neighbor's house.

Cynthia Smith is charged with third-degree arson, first-degree reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.

She turned herself in to detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department on Thursday.

Smith is accused of intentionally setting fire to her home at 24 Grange Avenue on February 2, 2013.

The fire spread to a neighboring house.

Firefighters battled to keep the blaze confined to the two structures and not spread further.

One person was treated at the scene for a fire-related injury.

Smith was arraigned in Lorraine Town Court and released on her own recognizance.

She is scheduled to appear in Adams Village Court on November 12.
