Alexandria Bay Resort To Be Sold

One of Alexandria Bay's major resorts is due to change hands soon.

Owner Don Cole said the sale of Bonnie Castle Manor and Marina in downtown Alexandria Bay are pending.

Speaking through Garlock Realty, Cole said the "main shareholder" of the purchaser is based in Rochester.

The Alexandria Bay-based Garlock Realty is handling the transaction. They say there are several investors, but the main shareholder is the daughter of the people who used to own Fiacco's Restaurant that was outside of Potsdam toward Canton.

The sale is expected to close soon and does not include Bonnie Recreation Center, which Cole also owns.

The recreation center on Route 12 outside Alexandria Bay includes a hockey rink that's home to the Thousand Islands Privateers.

The Privateers took over management of the center when foreclosure threatened to close the facility.

According to Cole's son-in-law, Marc Fernandez, the sale has no effect on plans for a racino.

He said he and Cole intend to move forward with their $140 million project to bring gambling and harness racing to the area.
