The National Weather Service has issued a lake effect snow warning for Jefferson and Lewis counties.

It goes into effect at 6 p.m. Thursday and continues through 1 a.m. Saturday.

The NWS says the region can expect 6 to 10 inches of snow Thursday, another 4 to 6 inches Friday and an additional 2 to 4 Friday night.

When this latest storm is finished, we can expect a total of 10 to 20 inches of new snow.

The NWS says accumulating snow will result in very difficult travel with snow covered roads and poor visibility.
