Antwerp Man Accused Of Breaking Baby's Leg

By Diane Rutherford

A 23 year old Antwerp man is in the St. Lawrence County Jail after allegedly breaking his infant son's leg.

State police charged Robert C.D. Robinson with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to police, Robinson recklessly injured his six-month-old son while placing him in a playpen.

Robinson's family is saying the police are wrong, and it was all an accident.

According to a member of Robinson's family, who called 7 News Friday evening, the baby's leg was broken when his older, four-year-old brother jumped into the play pen.

The baby suffered a spiral fracture in his right leg, police said.

Investigators say the incident happened at a family member's home in Rossie on July 13.

Robinson was arraigned in Fowler Town Court and ordered held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
