Watertown police arrested 19 year old Austin Scudera of of 327 West Main Street in Watertown Thursday afternoon.
In a brief appearance in city court Friday morning, Scudera pleaded not guilty.
Scudera is accused of shooting 24 year old Robert Hunt III of Three Mile Bay as he sat in a parked car along Ohio Street.
According to court documents, Scudera allegedly used a handgun to shoot Hunt.
The documents state that Hunt was shot once and his car was shot several times.
According to police reports, evidence led investigators to Scudera.
"He admitted being the person responsible for the shooting and provided specific details related to the shooting," said Watertown Police Detective Stephen Backus in his report.
A preliminary hearing for Scudera was set for next Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
On Ohio Street, where the shooting took place early Monday morning, a woman who knows the victim said she was relieved by the arrest.
"Our whole family has been shooken up about it, not being to sleep at night wondering if it's going to happen again," said the woman, who wanted to be identified publicly only as "Kim."
According to Hunt's father, the victim was shot five times.
Thursday night, "Kim" recalled Hunt - who is close friends with her son, she said - staggering into her yard after he was shot.
"At that point I went out back and Bobby was laying on the ground, so I tried to keep him calm until the police and ambulance got there," she said.
