Artisans Show Off Their Talents

The talents of more than 30 St. Lawrence County artists were showcased over the last 3 days as they opened up their studios so visitors could watch demonstrations and buy a variety of hand-made creations.

It was all part of the St. Lawrence County Arts Council 26th Annual Self-guided Studio Tour.

Artists showcased everything from handmade jewelry and paintings to ceramics and hand-dyed silk creations.

The local artisans were able to meet with visitors to discuss the process used to create their pieces.

Six of the artists were set up in studios at Clarkson's downtown Snell Hall, while others opened their studios across the county for a glimpse into the art world.

Organizers say the event has people thinking not only about talents of north country neighbors, but also the concept of buying local.

Approximately 20 participating artists turned out for a Saturday meet and greet reception hosted by Traditional Arts in Upstate New York.
