Barbershop Group Delivers Singing Valentines
It was a song of love as a Canton elementary teacher was serenaded with a singing Valentine sent by the parent of one of her students.
The Goldenaires surprise people every year with a Valentine's Day serenade, a song, a rose and a box of chocolates.
The group has averaged about 50 singing Valentines a day each Valentine's Day over the past several years.
The proceeds are used for scholarships to high school seniors with musical talent.
"The person who orders the Valentine, the person who receives it, the people who gather around to listen, we enjoy doing it and, of course, those students get scholarship money, so everybody wins," Budelmann said. "It's a lot of fun."
Budelmann says anyone interested in joining the barbershop group can call 315-386-2820.
